The mainstream media is constantly saying that GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is so controversial that many Republicans will switch sides and vote for Hillary Clinton in the general election. What happened this past weekend, however, shows this is not the case at all.

Newsmax reported that many Democrats and Independents showed up to support Trump at the candidate’s appearance Sunday at Rolling Thunder, the annual gathering of motorcycling veterans at the Lincoln Memorial.

“I’m a Democrat and I’m voting for Trump,” said Roger Rollins, a U.S. Army veteran who came from Clarksburg, West Virginia, for Rolling Thunder. Though he is a Democrat, Rollins admitted that he did not vote for Obama in 2012. According to Conservative Tribune, Rollins also said that he “didn’t like either of the Bushes, and I don’t want Hillary Clinton. I don’t trust her at all.”

Though he voted for Bill Clinton, Rollins said Obama “killed the coal business” and engaged in “too much s*** overseas.” He added that Trump, “will straighten things like this out.”

Bill Medina, another Democrat who once voted for Jimmy Carter and Clinton, agreed with this.

“Trump is a billionaire, and no one is going to buy him,” Medina said.

“The economy needs to operate differently so we won’t lose jobs,” Medina, a former defense plant employee, said. “Trump understands this. And he’ll balance the budget so there is money to protect our shores.”

Alan Jones, an Independent from Nashville who also attended the event, said he plans to vote for “whoever I think will do the best job.” When asked if he would vote for Trump, he replied, “Yes, in part because Hillary Clinton is a big liar. I liked her husband a lot more than I like her!”
