Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump scored a huge endorsement this week when golf legend Jack Nicklaus, aka “The Golden Bear,” officially backed him for the presidency.
Known for his record 18 victories in the sport’s major championships, 76 year-old Nicklaus sat down with Jim Axelrod on CBS Sunday Morning to discuss Trump’s chances in the election. When asked if he enjoys doing business with Trump, Nicklaus gave a response that shocked many liberal fans.
“Actually, Donald’s terrific,” Nicklaus said, adding he has worked with Trump on many golf-related projects. “He’s absolutely treated me great. He’s been above board. Whatever I’ve wanted to do, as long as it’s within reason, no, I think he’s terrific.”
According to Western Journalism, Nicklaus was then asked if there was anything transferable about Trump’s business experience which is applicable to the presidency.
“I like what Donald has done,” the golfing icon responded. “I like that he’s turning America upside down. He’s awakening the country.”
Axelrod then said America needs a little bit of that, to which Nicklaus retorted, “We need a lot of that.”
“Is he a politician? Is he as smooth and politically correct as he should be? Probably not. But he’ll learn. He’s not stupid. He didn’t get where he was being dumb. I like the guy. He’s a good man. And certainly, if he’s the one on the ticket, I’ll be voting for him,” Nicklaus continued.
Nicklaus has millions of loyal fans who have a lot of respect for what he has to say, so his endorsement could mean a lot to Trump. SHARE this story if you’re supporting Trump as well!
