As voters in five different states head to the polls for their primaries today, a political alliance may be forming that nobody saw coming.
According to ABC News, GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump spoke out on Twitter today urging struggling Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders to run as an Independent.
“Bernie Sanders has been treated terribly by the Democrats — both with delegates & otherwise,” Trump tweeted this afternoon. “He should show them, and run as an Independent!”

Sanders has run as an Independent for most of his political career, so it isn’t as much of a stretch as you’d think for him to do it again. However, Trump is smart in urging him to run as an Independent, as Sanders would undoubtedly take tons of votes away from Hillary Clinton. Sanders and Clinton would split the liberal vote, handing the election to the GOP nominee, who will likely be Trump.
This sounds like a great idea to us. Hey, Bernie, please run as an Independent!
