Millions of supporters of Donald Trump were hoping that the business mogul would launch an Independent third party run if the GOP establishment somehow manages to rip the nomination away from him.
The Hill reported that Trump told his supporters on Sunday that he will withdraw from politics entirely if he does not win the nomination.
“They fight like hell for six months, and they’re saying horrible things, the worst things you can imagine,” Trump said of the nomination process, according to Conservative Tribune. “And then one of them loses, one of them wins. And the one who loses says, ‘I just want to congratulate my opponent. He is a brilliant man, he’ll be a great governor or president or whatever.'”
“I’m not sure you’re ever going to see me there. I don’t think I’m going to lose, but if I do, I don’t think you’re ever going to see me again, folks. I think I’ll go to Turnberry and play golf or something,” he added, referring to one of his golf courses in Scotland.
Trump also put other rumors to rest when he said he doesn’t like presidential winners giving cabinet positions to those who ran against them.
“Half the times (the winners) put them in the administration — that’s how they get rid of them,” Trump said, referring to losing candidates.
