Chick-fil-A is one of the most popular fast food chains in conservative America, and they are always looking for new ways to improve their menu. This week, however, they shocked everyone by saying they would not be following a fad that has become popular among other fast food restaurants.
According to Fox News, Chick-fil-A has announced that they will not be using iceberg lettuce anytime soon.
“We have a mandate: Never use iceberg lettuce,” David Farmer, Chick-fil-A vice president of menu strategy and development, told Business Insider.
Even though iceberg lettuce is low on calories and has small amounts of vitamins A and K, Farmer says he encourages his chefs to experiment with foods that provide more nutritional bang for your buck.
“Our focus over the last couple years has been around health,” he said. “We’re seeing purchase behavior shift toward healthier items, so we’re fully committed to providing more nutritional options for customers.”
Many of Farmer’s menu inspirations come from his frequent trips to New York City.
“I travel to New York to check out new concepts and walk around trying food all day long until I can’t stand to put anything else in my mouth,” he said.
This sort of behavior is typical of Chick-fil-A, as they have never been a brand to submit to anyone but God. SHARE this story if you love Chick-fil-A!
