With Donald Trump dominating the GOP presidential polls for months, many have already been speculating as to who he will name as his Vice President. The Donald himself has stayed relatively silent as to who he is thinking of making his running mate – until now.
“People you see excoriating me on TV … are calling my office wanting to get on the team,” he continued. “I actually asked a couple of them, ‘How can you do this after what you said?’ And they said, ‘No problem.’”
Powers then asked if Marco Rubio was part of this list.
“Yes. I like Marco Rubio. Yeah. I could,” he told Powers. “There are people I have in mind in terms of vice president. I just haven’t told anybody names. … I do like Marco. I do like (John) Kasich. … I like (Scott) Walker actually in a lot of ways. I hit him very hard. … But I’ve always liked him. There are people I like, but I don’t think they like me because I have hit them hard.”
Trump was then asked about the jokes Rubio made at his expense, such as those about the size of his hands and, by extension, the size of his manhood.
“He made a mistake,” Trump said of that incident. “He became Don Rickles for about four days, and then I became worse than Don Rickles.”
This interview indicates Rubio is somehow on the shortlist to be Trump’s Vice President. It’s safe to say nobody saw that coming!
