Hillary Clinton was hoping the FBI’s investigation into her emails scandal would simply go away. However, the Los Angeles Times shattered this mindset this week when they reported that investigators with the FBI are setting up interviews with Hillary’s top aides, which indicates that their investigation is nearing it’s conclusion.
Interviews with Hillary’s aides will be crucial to the investigation of her use of a private server to handle confidential government information during her time at the State Department.
“The interviews are critical to understand the volume of information they have accumulated,” said James McJunkin, former head of the FBI’s Washington field office, according to Conservative Tribune.
“They are likely nearing the end of the investigation and the agents need to interview these people to put the information in context,” he continued. “They will then spend time aligning these statements with other information, emails, classified documents, etc., to determine whether there is a prosecutable case.”
Though some legal experts say Obama’s Justice Department will likely interfere with any attempt to charge Hillary, others say the FBI may leak all the information they have on her if she’s not charged.
“I have friends that are in the FBI and they tell me they’re ready to indict,” former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, a Texas Republican, said on the “The Steve Malzburg Show” in January.
“They’re ready to recommend an indictment and they also say that if the attorney general does not indict, they’re going public,” he added. “One way or another, either she’s going to be indicted and that process begins, or we try her in the public eye with her campaign. One way or another she’s going to have to face these charges.”
