Barack Obama was humiliated this week when the Clintons turned on him in the hopes of using his unpopularity to get themselves back in the White House.
While campaigning for his wife in Spokane, Washington, former President Bill Clinton seemingly slammed Obama’s legacy in a move his aides are now saying was unintentional.
“If you believe we can rise together, if you believe we’ve finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us and the seven years before that where we were practicing trickle-down economics, then you should vote for her,” Clinton said about his wife, according to CNN.
Conservatives immediately zeroed in on the comment, with the Republican National Committee saying this “is about as off message as you can get” in an email to reporters.
A Bill Clinton aide later tried to do damage control, claiming the former president was “referring to the GOP’s obstructionism and not President Obama’s legacy.”
Clearly, even the Clintons know that Obama is a sinking ship, and they aren’t afraid to throw him under the bus to get back in the White House. What do you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
