A New York father has been arrested after he admitted to posing as his daughter’s boyfriend in order to trick her into sending him naked photos.
According to The Blaze, the 41 year-old father at one point claimed the fake boyfriend had committed suicide before using the photos to blackmail his 14 year-old daughter. On Monday, he plead guilty to 12 counts of enticing a child to produce child pornography and receiving and sending child porn. He will now face sexual abuse charges in Herkimer County Court.
It all started back in 2013, when the father set up accounts on Instagram, AOL and a texting service under an alias. Posing as a 16-year-old boy from Watertown, New York, he developed a relationship with his own daughter online, and they eventually started calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend.
Initially, the girl resisted sending him sexually explicit photos, but she eventually gave in. Two months after the correspondence began, however, the girl told him she wanted to break up.
“I tell u what u want to be gone then send me nudes and close ups and I will let u go,” the girl’s father texted her, posing as the teenage boy.
“No,” she responded. “I’m not going to do that. That’s another reason I’m leaving. All you talk about is sex sex and more sex. Honestly that is not what a relationship is about.”
“Then I will send these to your dad and then I won’t have to worry about anyone else having u,” the man wrote, referring to the photos she had sent him.
“I told you that a bunch of times when we were dating that I don’t like those pics and now you are threatening me that if I don’t send you those then you’ll send my dad the ones I sent you before?” she texted. “My life is ruined.”
The father later told the girl that if she took more photos, he wouldn’t show any of the images to anyone.
“You said that about the other one and now you’re threatening to send it to my father, who by the way will kill me,” she messaged back.
Later on, the girl received a message from the same account from someone claiming to be his mother, who said the boy had committed suicide. Her father then told her the boy had sent her the photos before his death, and he often referred to how much he liked them when he sexually abused her.
About a year after the boy’s fake suicide, the teenage girl finally told a school nurse about the sexual abuse.
“Only after that did his torture of her subside,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Fletcher.
The father now faces up to 250 years in prison when he is sentenced in July. What do you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
