Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx dropped a bombshell on Will Smith’s race-baiting Oscar boycott this week when he implied the reason Smith doesn’t have an Oscar is that he isn’t a good enough actor.
Foxx made the comments while speaking at the American Black Film Festival Awards in Beverly Hills on Sunday night.
After Smith was snubbed this year for the movie Concussion, he teamed up with his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith to announce that they would not be attending this year’s ceremony, citing the systemic racism in Hollywood that has led to two straight years of all white acting nominees. Foxx, however, said he doesn’t get “what’s the big deal” about Smith’s boycott.
“All these Oscar talks, I don’t even trip about that. I mean, what’s the big deal? I was sitting at home with my Oscar, like ‘What’s all the hubbub?'” Foxx said at the event, according to Daily Mail.
“My friend said, ‘Are you mad?’ ‘Um, kind of, but not really,'” Foxx continued. “I started calling Denzel [Washington], and we just Instagrammed our Oscars together.”
He finished his segment by making fun of Smith’s terrible Nigerian accent in Concussion and calling out “#WhatsTheBigDeal?” and “#ActBetter.”
We applaud Foxx for defying the race-baiting movement to speak the truth. SHARE this story if you think the Oscar boycott is ridiculous!
