Willie Nelson has just made an announcement that has his fans all over the country praying for him.
According to Q Political, Nelson’s former guitarist Jackie King passed away on January 24 after suffering a heart attack. He was 71 years-old.
The two performed together on the road for years, and King appeared in multiple albums of Nelson’s including The Gypsy, The Great Divide, and, Angel Eyes. Nelson in turn appeared on King’s 1986 album Knight Bird.
“I think of myself more now as a songwriter than I do a guitar player because of guys like Jackie King,” Nelson once said. “It’s humbling to be in the presence of that kind of talent.”
Just last week, Nelson recorded the song Someone To Watch Over Me, which is featured above this story. We get the feeling it was likely written about King.
