He Had A Strange Bump On His Foot, So They Popped It – What Comes Out…EWWW!

Dr. Sandra Lee has earned herself the nickname of Dr. Pimple Popper through popping a ton of strange skin conditions. In this video, however, she was faced with a patient who had a large bump on his right foot.

The doctor described what happened next in the video description:

This patient came in with his wife (who is a nurse) for a general skin check. He doesn’t like to visit doctors, so if his wife hadn’t come along, he may have never showed up for his appointment and he certainly wouldn’t have let me take this bump off his foot.
i wasn’t sure what it was before removing it. At first I thought it may be a ganglion cyst, but as you can see I tried to aspirate the area (use a syringe to create a vacuum to remove any of the internal contents if it was a liquid/fluid) and this was unsuccessful. You may also notice I was a little timid when I began to excise the area… I wanted to make sure it wasn’t vascular, such as a small AV (arteriovenous) malformation, meaning that maybe there was blood in there! I felt for a pulse, but couldn’t feel anything, and I knew a vascular growth was very doubtful, but still… all of this running through my mind makes me take extra care when I began this excision just because I thought about it and this could remotely be in the differential diagnosis.

And now I know why I couldn’t figure out exactly what it was before removing it. Pathology confirmed this was a Palisaded Encapsulated Neuroma, which is not very common. This is a benign growth, a collection of nerve cells in a bundle. It is not malignant or life threatening. And now, he doesn’t have this bump on the top of his foot anymore, so even though he didn’t really want to go through with this, I think he is happy he did in the end!
