Many global restaurant chains have recently started submitting to Islam by serving Halal food, but McDonald’s isn’t having any of this.
McDonald’s, KFC, and Pizza Hut have reportedly just turned down a request from an Imam asking them to serve Islamic-certified Halal meat.
The demand came from Hong Kong’s chief imam Mufti Muhammad Arshad, who insisted this would be a shrewd business move for the companies. He personally contacted each of these chains with the request.
Here’s how American News defines Halal meat:
Halal means ‘permissible’ in Arabic. As it pertains to meat, it means that it comes from an animal that is slaughtered according to Islamic law. In order for meat to pass these standards, Allah’s name must be pronounced during slaughter, a very sharp instrument must be used to slit the animal at the throat and the animal must be conscious and hung upside down to bleed dry.
Pork and certain cuts of meat are also prohibited.
After they refused his request, Arshad expressed confidence that it would only be a matter of time before the chains submit to Islam.
“It’s disappointing that we could not convince the companies,” he wrote. “It doesn’t have to be Hong Kong-wide. In the main areas, like Central, Wan Chai, Tsim Sha Tsui, the New Territories and at the airport, it would be a great service. The companies have to realize there is a need for this and that it is good business for them.”
We applaud each of these restaurant chains for taking a stand against Islam!
