Texas has been on the brink of seceding ever since Obama took office, but now it looks like it may actually be happening…
According to Breitbart, a Texas state Republican Party member is preparing to present legislation to Republican Party of Texas officials that would put secession to a vote by primary voters.
Tanya Robertson, a member of the State Republican Executive Committee for Senate District 11, will be presenting her plan to the resolution committee in Austin, Texas on December 4. The 12 person committee will then decide if the resolution will die or move forward to the next step of the process.
Robertson told reporters that secession is necessary due to dissatisfaction with Washington D.C. representatives and excessive federal government spending. Texas Republican State Party Chairman Tom Mechler, however, has said that he does not believe the resolution has enough support in the committee to move forward.
Even if Robertson’s resolution makes it to the ballot, it will be a non-binding vote that would not compel the state to secede. However, if the majority of Texans wish to secede, the vote will be very hard for state officials to ignore.
