Last month, we reported that country music star Joey Feek, of the duo Joey + Rory, was ceasing treatment after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Now in hospice care, 40 year-old Joey has broken her silence to thank her fans for their report and reveal what she is hoping and praying for. According to US Magazine, Joey’s goal is to make it to the second birthday of her daughter Indiana, which will take place in February.
“Her friends gathered around her on the couch and she told them of her hope that she might be able to still be here for Christmas, or for Indiana’s second birthday in February,” Rory wrote on their blog, This Life I Live.
“Joey’s hope never fades. No amount of pain or medicine can touch it. It runs too deep. It’s connected to her faith in God. And as she will tell you, God can do anything,” Rory added, along with a photo of Joey’s hands gathered with their friends’ and Indiana’s, who has Down Syndrome.
In a very emotional post, Rory revealed that Joey would like to be buried in the family cemetery on their ranch’s property.
“A rough-cut wooden box with a cross on it was placed beneath the bay of the bus and brought up here because that’s what Joey wants,” he wrote, adding that she has asked their good friend Thomas build it. “‘Simple, from wood at the farm,’ she said. ‘And find a good spot in the family cemetery in the field behind our house, where we put your mama’s ashes last year… with room enough beside my headstone for you to join me someday… in God’s time.’”
Please continue to pray for a miracle for this beautiful family. We’re rooting for you, Joey!
