Throughout her husband Donald Trump’s hugely successful campaign for the GOP presidential nomination, Melania Trump has largely stayed silent as she stays home to raise the couple’s 12 year-old son: until now!
According to Daily Mail, Barbara Walters sat down with the Trumps for a special edition of ABC News’ 20/20 this week in what was Melania’s first interview since her husband announced his campaign. The Trump children will also sit down with Walters, but it is not clear if youngest son Barron will be included in this.
In a small portion of the interview that aired Tuesday night, Trump talked about banning ALL Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. whether they are Christians or Muslims. When Walters asked him why it’s so important to ban Syrian refugees, Trump gave a blunt response.
“The problem is we don’t know if they’re Christian or not,” he replied. “And I would certainly say that would be superior. We don’t know if they’re Christian. We have no idea who the people are.”
“They have no papers, they have no paperwork, you can get forged documents very easily in Syria,” he added.
Walters is a longtime friend of the Trump family, so it comes as no surprise that Melania would sit down with her first. We can’t wait to see her interview!
