After the Paris terrorist attacks, Obama made it clear that he has no intention of halting his plan to allow thousands of Syrian refugees into this country. Unfortunately for him, Americans have made it clear that they are NOT ok with this, and today the Republican-controlled congress officially took notice.
“Our nation has always been welcoming, but we cannot let terrorists take advantage of our compassion,” House Speaker Paul Ryan told reporters, according to The Hill. “This is a moment where it’s better to be safe than to be sorry.”
According to Conservative Tribune, the fact that the Paris terrorists used the refugee crisis to infiltrate Europe has made Americans everywhere terrified of Obama’s plan to resettle 10,000 “refugees” in the U.S. next year.
“We shouldn’t accept any Syrian refugees without complete assurance those we are welcoming intend us no harm,” Ryan reportedly told House Republicans.
When he became House Speaker, Ryan promised to take decisive action on issues in the Republican Party, and with this move he made it clear that congress needs to act NOW.
“We don’t want to wait that long. We want to work and act on this faster than that,” Ryan said, referring to the Republicans’ plan to block funding for Obama’s refugee program in the budget vote on Dec. 11.
“Containing ISIS is not enough,” Ryan continued. “Defeating ISIS is what is necessary and we do not have that comprehensive plan in place.”
Democrats were outraged about this, saying that it violated the ideals this country was built on.
“Shutting the door of America completely to those who are seeking asylum or refuge is not our tradition,” Rep. Xavier Becerra, chairman of the Democratic Caucus, commented.
