Liberals are calling for a boycott of Duck Dynasty once again this week after stars Willie and Korie Robertson spoke out in favor of hunting.
Willie and Korie sat down with ET Online to talk about their new book American Hunter, which chronicles the life stories of legendary hunters like Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, Kit Carson, Buffalo Bill, Teddy Roosevelt, Ernest Hemingway and Lyndon Johnson, who all came together to shape America.
“We went back and went through hundreds of years of America and really how hunting and the outdoors shaped a lot of the things that we see and do today,” Willie said. “We talk about presidents that hunted, all the way back to Native Americans. It’s just fascinating… They’re the ultimate conservationists, setting it up for future generations.”
In the book, Korie recounts the story of her first kill, which ended up being a proud experience for her husband.
“I actually think he cried when I killed my first deer,” she teased Willie.
“I did, yeah. I cry at everything. … I was proud,” he replied.
Though Korie is being slammed by liberals for being a female hunter, both her and her husband know that she is not alone.
“The most growing population of hunters in America is women,” Willie said.
“It’s really an incredible experience, it’s something that you never forget,” Korie added. “You feel very powerful to be able to provide for your family in that way.”
The Robertsons are big believers in cooking everything they kill, and they believe that eating this way has kept their family healthy.
“We’re looking for the freshest ingredients and we don’t want something that’s been pumped up with steroids, and you buy something from the supermarket — let’s be honest, you have no idea where that came from and what they put in it to preserve it,” Willie explained. “When I’m out in the woods, I’m able to see exactly what I’m gonna eat and I know it hasn’t been shot up with anything. We clean it, which is another process, and then the cooking for us has always been a process, we love that part of it.”
“And then as you see on Duck Dynasty, it’s the meal,” he concluded. “That’s where we share another process of it. It’s the ultimate farm to table. … We’ve done that our whole lives.”
We applaud the Robertsons for continuing to support hunting, despite the liberal backlash!
