At the first Republican debate a few weeks ago, Megyn Kelly tried to save her struggling television show by going after Donald Trump in front of millions of people.
Unfortunately for her, this turned out to be a huge mistake.
The backlash against Kelly for her inexcusable behavior during the debate was swift. Over 50,000 people signed a petition demanding she be banned from ever hosting a debate again, and even her co-anchors at Fox started to turn on her. Things got worse for her when Trump himself fired back, and she eventually announced that she will be going on a 10 day vacation.
When Trump refused to leave Kelly alone, Fox turned on him and war was declared between the network and the business mogul. Yesterday, Trump announced that he would no longer be appearing on Fox, meaning that this war is officially back on.
With Trump continuing to slam her every chance he gets, Kelly’s future at Fox seemed uncertain. However, the ratings released this week reveal that Trump has actually brought Kelly the attention she so desperately needed.
According to Mediaite, Kelly was number one for all cable news shows on Tuesday night. With 417K viewers, she beat out both the O’Reilly Factor with 363K and Hannity with 345K.
Here are the full ratings for Tuesday:
For the week, Kelly is currently in second to O’Reilly. The latter has had 2.5 million viewers, while Kelly has 2.3 million.
Clearly. Kelly owes Trump a HUGE thank you, because this never would have been possible had he not made her relevant again!
