Ever since Donald Trump was named the GOP frontrunner a few months ago, liberals have been desperately trying to take him down. Trump has skillfully managed to dodge every attack, but the latest one is far more personal than the others.
According to Daily Mail, a New York Times story from 1927 that surfaced this week appeared to suggest that Trump’s father, Fred Trump, was arrested during a Ku Klux Klan riot that year. The article lists a “Fred Trump” as one of the people taken into custody during a “free-for-all” between police and 1,000 klansmen.
The address of the Trump mentioned in the article mention’s that of Trump’s father in Queens.
The article was found by Boing Boing, and they pointed out that the arrest doesn’t necessarily mean that Trump’s father was a member of the white supremacist organization. Fred, who was just 21 at the time, was one of seven men “arrested in the near-riot of the parade,” but he was discharged as soon as they went before the judge. This could mean that he was just an innocent bystander swept up in the commotion.
The legendary Trump money certainly couldn’t have gotten Fred out of this one. This occurred in 1927, years before Fred became a self-made millionaire. At the time of his arrest, Fred was still just a poor boy from Queens.
Despite the evidence to the contrary, Donald Trump has called the story “ridiculous” and said that there’s no way his father was ever arrested because he wouldn’t have been able to obtain business licenses had he been.
“This is ridiculous,” Trump said. “He was never arrested. He has nothing to do with this. This never happened. This is nonsense and it never happened.”
“This never happened. Never took place,” he continued. “He was never arrested, never convicted, never even charged. It’s a completely false, ridiculous story. He was never there! It never happened. Never took place.
“Think – if it had, he would never have been able to get licenses in New York for anything associated with his business, with construction. This is just bizarre and untrue,” Trump concluded. “You don’t even know it’s the same person! Nobody says it was!”
