Liberals love to portray GOP frontrunner Donald Trump as a greedy, heartless monster who only thinks about himself. The business mogul did something this week, however, that proves that he has more heart than anyone else in the race.
According to Daily Mail, Trump has submitted a written request to CNN that they donate the profits from their GOP debate next week to a list of charities that aid our country’s veterans. These charities will be vetted by Trump himself.
Trump wrote to the network that the debate should be a “public service,” not a cash grab.
“The veterans of our country, our finest people, have been treated horribly by our government and its ‘all talk and no action’ politicians,” Trump said. “In fact, some would say they are treated like third class citizens–even worse in many cases than illegal immigrants.”
“It is about time that someone comes to their aid,” he continued. “Let’s start now!”
Trump is credited with bringing in a record 24 million viewers to the first debate for Fox, and he has said in the past that he plans to use this as leverage to get CNN to donate money to charity.
“If I go to CNN and I say, Look, you’re going to have a massive audience, and if I say to them, I want $10 million for charity, nothing for myself, what happens? I’m not showing up, right?” Trump said in an interview last month.
