Networks Announce Plan To Make Megyn Kelly The ‘Next Oprah’

At the Republican debate last Thursday, Megyn Kelly tried to save her struggling television show by going after Donald Trump in front of millions of people.

Unfortunately for her, this turned out to be a huge mistake.

The backlash against Kelly for her inexcusable behavior during the debate was swift. Thousands signed a petition demanding she be banned from ever hosting a debate again, and even her co-anchors at Fox started to turn on her. Things got worse for her when Trump himself fired back at her, and this week it was revealed that Kelly is taking offers from other networks.

Though conservatives have turned on Megyn Kelly, the Trump scandal has brought her back into the limelight. Her ratings have shot through the roof, and Fox has announced plans to make Kelly “the next Oprah.”

“Barbara Walters has retired,” Kelly said recently, according to Fortune. “Diane Sawyer left her anchor role. Oprah has moved to the OWN network and is doing a different thing now. So why not me?”

“Listen, Megyn is so good today that there is no interview I would not want her to do,” Fox head Roger Ailes said in support of her, adding that Kelly will have a series of primetime specials airing on Fox beginning early next year.

It looks like Kelly will be staying at Fox, despite her other lucrative offers. Fox is hoping to keep her feud with Trump going as long as they can in order to keep her in the headlines so that she can one day become the face of the network. If they get their way, Kelly could end up being even bigger than Oprah Winfrey.

Regardless of what happens, Megyn Kelly has Trump to thank for the resurrection of her career.
