A fed-up host of the struggling liberal talkshow The View abruptly quit the show this week after executives forced her to apologize to a racist guest host.
Academy Award nominee Rosie Perez began cohosting the ABC show last fall, but after being fired by the network earlier this summer, she cancelled her final appearance on the program this week amidst the controversy.
It started last week, when liberal nitwit Kelly Osbourne made a racially-charged remark as she tried to attack Donald Trump.
“If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?” Osbourne said on the show last Tuesday, according to Daily Mail.
“Oh, that’s not… oh, no!” Perez mumbled in disbelief as a silence fell over the studio.”Latinos are not the only people doing that.”
Things got even more awkward during the commercial break, when ABC executives demanded Perez apologize to Osbourne. The 51 year-old actress protested, but eventually agreed to apologize at the end of the show. Afterwards, however, she bolted to her dressing room outraged.
Executives weren’t done with her yet though. They cornered Perez in her dressing room and forced her to tweet an apology to Osbourne.
“I’ve already done more than enough by apologizing on air,” she screamed at the executives as a loud argument ensued. Eventually, Perez tweeted the apology, which put her in the line of fire from livid latinos.
“She and the ABC executives had it out. She was yelling at them at the top of her lungs that their demands were disrespectful,” a source from the show recounted. “They were telling her that she better do exactly as they said. It was an ugly scene and Rosie was crying uncontrollably and outraged.”
Afterwards, Perez stormed out of the studio screaming that she was “done with this f****** show.” She told the executives “to kiss her a**” and promised never to return to “this s***hole of a place!”
“ABC had already fired her technically when they didn’t renew her contract. She had nothing left to lose by not coming back,” the source continued. “She may have missed a few days pay, but to walk away with her dignity is likely far more important for Rosie in this situation.”
This is just the latest in a long line of issues The View has had this year. As their ratings dramatically declined, they fired Rosie O’Donnell in the winter and then conservative cohost Nicolle Wallace this summer. With Perez gone now too, only Whoopi Goldberg remains on the panel out of the women who started the season in the fall.
In an attempt to revamp their image, The View has announced plans to hire two Christian cohosts, actress Candace Cameron-Bure and reporter Paula Faris. We’ll see how that works out for them!
