Last week, Republicans were outraged when conservative cohost Nicolle Wallace was abruptly fired from The View.
Apparently, producers were annoyed that Wallace was not standing up for her conservative opinions more against whack-job liberals like Whoopi Goldberg, so they launched a search to find another Republican with more fight in them. On Friday, it appears that they think they have found that in Full House actress Candace Cameron Bure.
According to Mediaite, The View producers are in final negotiations with Cameron Bure today to have her join the panel, which now includes Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symoné, and Michelle Collins. ABC reporter Paula Faris is reportedly about to join the show as well.
A few weeks ago, Cameron Bure made headlines when she argued about gay marriage with Symone, who is a proud lesbian.
“The Oregon law bars businesses from discriminating against sexual orientation, race, disability, age or religion,” Symone argued, “and to me, it’s the same exact thing that they did back in the day saying that black people couldn’t do certain things because it’s my ‘religious belief.'”
“I don’t think this is discrimination at all. This is about freedom of association,” Cameron Bure replied, according to US Magazine. “It’s about constitutional rights. It’s about First Amendment rights. We do have the right to still choose who we associate with.”
“[The bakery] didn’t refuse to bake the cake because of [the couple’s] sexual orientation,” she continued. “In fact, they baked cakes for them previously. They had a problem with the actual ceremony because that — the ceremony — is what conflicted with their religious beliefs. They are saying that they stand for marriage between a man and a woman.”
Symone eventually cut the actress off, saying “I refuse to associate with you right now.”
This is exactly the kind of fireworks that The View is looking for, so it should come as no surprise to fans that they want Cameron Bure to replace Wallace.
