Esmerelda Rossi was lounging at her Phoenix, Arizona home recently wearing only a towel when police suddenly burst in to arrest her.
“I felt helpless, I felt violated,” Esmeralda Rossi told the press, according to American Overlook. “And honestly, I felt molested.”
Police were responding to a prior call about an argument between Rossi and her estranged husband.
“I was in the shower,” Rossi said. “My daughter came to the shower and said, ‘There are two officers at the door.’ So I just grabbed a towel.”
Officer Doug Rose began acting aggressively, demanding Rossi give him her phone.
“It made me very uncomfortable,” Rossi said. “So I closed the door. I turn to go into my living room, and I probably get about five steps in, and all of a sudden, I just hear boots running in after me, telling me, ‘Stop or I’ll arrest you.’”
That’s when Rossi’s daughter began recording the incident.
Watch as Rose threatens to arrest Rossi, and she responds that he can’t because she didn’t do anything. Then, he grabs her and handcuffs her, forcing her to drop her towel and expose her naked body. Rossi is now planning to sue the city of Phoenix for unlawful behavior.
“This was not the proper treatment of a citizen,” Rossi’s attorney, Marc Victor, told reporters. “This was disgusting. This was barbaric.”
“Any one of us would be upset if a police officer barged into our homes without permission,” Victor said. “She had a right to be upset.”
