Trump Refuses To Apologize To McCain After Controversial Comments

For the last few weeks, we have been reporting on Donald Trump, who found himself the target of liberal backlash after he criticized the U.S.’s relationship with Mexico during his campaign announcement.
While many didn’t take Trump seriously as a presidential candidate at the beginning, that all changed last week when polls revealed that Trump is currently the frontrunner in the race for the GOP nomination.
Trump found himself in hot water this weekend when he said that Arizona Senator John McCain was not a war hero because he was captured and held prisoner for five years during the Vietnam War. This came days after McCain vilified Trump to the press, saying that he has rallied the “crazies” to vote for him.
Many were outraged that Trump would dare to say that a veteran who was captured is not a hero, but when ABC’s Martha Raddatz asked if he would apologize to McCain, he refused.
“No. Not at all,” Trump replied when he was asked directly if he owed McCain an apology. According to Huffington Post, Trump later demanded that McCain apologize to HIM for what he said.
“And by the way, this all started, Martha, when we had thousands and thousands of people in Phoenix, Arizona, and John — who, by the way, are devastated by illegal immigration, something I’m very proud to have brought to the forefront,” Trump said. “We had thousands of people and he said they’re all crazies. He called them crazies. And frankly, I think he owes them an apology.”
Trump went on to slam his fellow candidates for coming after him, saying that the negative press he is facing is only because, “they started attacking me.”
Raddatz then asked if Trump has ever regretted anything he said, including his controversial birther comments.
“No, I wouldn’t do that. I wouldn’t do that, Martha. I wouldn’t do that. It’s not the appropriate time,” Trump responded. “But certainly I have said things that I could’ve held back. But not that often, surprisingly not that often, but certainly there have been occasions.”
Whether you agree with Trump or not, you’ve got to hand it to him: he never backs down!
