For the last few days, we have been reporting on the controversy surrounding comments Donald Trump made about Mexico during his campaign announcement.
During his speech, the legendary businessman complained about the many criminals that are sneaking into the U.S. from Mexico, calling many of them “rapists.” Outraged, the Spanish-language television channel Univision announced that they would be boycotting Trump by refusing to broadcast his Miss Universe Pageant.
Unfazed, Trump has stood by the comments he made, saying repeatedly that the U.S.’s relationship with Mexico has become problematic. Last week, he filed a $500 million lawsuit against Univision for dropping the Miss Universe pageant.
Continuing to show that he doesn’t give a hoot about all this liberal backlash, Trump sat down with NBC reporter Katy Tur for an interview on Wednesday afternoon. According to Mediaite, he quickly schooled the liberal reporter, standing by his comments on Mexico and slamming those who have criticized him.
When Tur made the mistake of bringing up gun rights, Trump gave her a quick lesson on the Second Amendment:
TRUMP: I have the license to have a gun, yes, I do.
TUR: Do you own one?
TRUMP: Yes, I do.
TUR: Do you use it? Gun range?
TRUMP: That’s none of your business. It’s really none of your business. I have a license to have a gun.
TUR: Gun control?
TRUMP: What are you talking about?
TUR: Or stronger background checks?
TRUMP: Yes, I have a gun and, yes, I have a permit to have a gun.
TUR: Stronger background checks? What about that? Is there any steps that you would take to make it harder to get a gun in this country?
TRUMP: Once you get into that, you start getting into a situation, the slippery slope where all of a sudden you’re going to really violate the Second Amendment. I don’t want to do anything to violate the Second Amendment. To me, the Second Amendment is very important.
Tur then brought up Charles Krauthammer, who called Trump a “rodeo clown.” Trump responded by calling Krauthammer, “a totally overrated person that dislikes me personally. I’ve never met him. He’s a totally overrated guy, doesn’t know what he’s doing.”
Trump was also asked about Jonah Goldberg, who called him a “failed man.” The business icon responded by saying, “I’m worth a fortune. You know, it’s interesting. I went to the best school, got great marks, everything else. I went out, I made a fortune, a big fortune, a tremendous fortune… bigger than people even understand. […] Then I get called by a guy that can’t buy a pair of pants, I get called names?”
Finally, Trump wasn’t about to let Tur get away with being a sheep for the liberal media.
“By the way,” Trump smirked at the reporter, “are you going to mention the ones that do like Trump? No, you don’t do that.”
