Since becoming president, Obama has been on a mission to overturn the Second Amendment, and take guns away from Americans forever.
Though Obama has repeatedly said that “nobody is coming to take your guns” and that he just wants to put “common-sense” gun laws in place, his actions prove that he has a very different agenda.
According to Conservative Tribune, Obama recently called for the U.S. to enact strict gun control laws that emulate the ones put in place in Australia 20 years ago. Referring to the horrific 1996 mass shooting in Port Arthur that left 35 people dead, Obama said, “It was just so shocking the entire country said, ‘Well, we’re going to completely change our gun laws’, and they did. And it hasn’t happened since.”
What Obama just ignored is that this shooting happened AFTER Australia outlawed guns. The shooting occurred after Australia issued a coercive mandatory buyback of weapons and forced confiscation of firearms from anyone who resisted.
When looking at these laws, one also must remember that Australia and the U.S. are two very different nations. While Australia only had about one million firearms to worry about, the U.S. has over 300 million firearms which they would have to confiscate from people who would desperately want to keep them if they were banned.
Calling for Americans to follow the lead of Australia in terms of gun control is both laughable and unrealistic. Go back to the drawing board, Obama, because that one isn’t going to work!
