Shocking surveillance footage shows a gang of thugs brutally assault a young veteran of the war in Afghanistan. Luckily, thanks to this video, the thugs have since been apprehended, and they just learned their fate.
Jack Shilton, a 21 year-old veteran of the Army Corps who maintains helicopters at RAF Wattisham, was on leave in Suffolk, United Kingdom when he was attacked by the five men. He had been out celebrating with a colleague who had just gotten home from fighting the Taliban when the thugs pounced like “a pack of wolves determined on its prey” on the soldier.
According to Daily Mail, the punks knocked Shilton to the ground and stole his phone and wallet before dragging him around the pavement by his underwear.
“While your victim has served this country, your country, in Afghanistan, to protect you and the rest of us from the threat of future harm, you have behaved in a cowardly and despicable fashion,” Judge Rupert Overbury told the thugs in court. “Each of you is a disgrace to your family and a disgrace to your community.”
Jerran Hart, 22, and Adam Poulter, 26, pleaded not guilty to the assault, but the judge wasn’t buying it. He sentenced them each to three and a half years in jail.
Matthew Kersey, 30, and Jamie Duncan, 23, each confessed to the robbery, and were sentenced to 32 months and 30 months in jail respectively. A fifth defendant, Mitchell Ambrose, 20, also confessed and will be sentenced at a later date.
