Last summer, we reported on the case of Jennifer Sexton, a 29 year-old teacher from Oklahoma who was caught having sex with her 15 year-old eight grade student.
Now divorced and going by her maiden name of Jennifer Caswell, she recently gave her first interview ever as she faces serious prison time. During the sit-down with Dr. Phil, Caswell blamed the victim, saying his constant flattery of her led to them having sex in her classroom standing up.
“He came in, I was working on things, he kept coming closer to me and I would kind of walk away to the other part, you know another room, another areas of the classroom and he just walked up to me and then he kissed me,” she recounted, according to Daily Mail. “And then it just kind of went from there.”
She added that though the boy was in her classroom at Hollis Middle School for around two hours, the sexual encounter lasted only 15 minutes and they kept their clothes on the whole time.
“I was walking around the classroom straightening up the desks and he came and I guess it was standing up,” Caswell said. “I kept on saying, ”No you know we can’t do this. No, no, no.”
However, Caswell admitted that she easily could have put a stop to the encounter.
“He wasn’t forcing me, I mean, I couldn’t easily just walked out of my classroom, but I didn’t,” she confessed. “But I was resisting because I knew it was wrong, but I didn’t.”
She went on to say she felt “terrified” after the experience.
“I just couldn’t believe I had done something like that,” lamented Caswell, who had gotten her teaching certificate just six weeks before the encounter.
Now facing jail, Caswell is even more horrified that she will be placed on a sex offender list for life.
“It’s horrible because that’s for life. I’m gonna be a sex offender forever. And I’m not, I’m not – I’m not a predator,” she told Dr. Phil. “I’m not a sex offender. I’m not a threat or a danger to anyone. It’s here forever and I’m gonna pay for it forever… But I didn’t force anything. I’m not a rapist.”
Despite this, Caswell admitted she had kissed the boy while she spent time at his home. She then blamed her failing marriage and the culture in her small town for what she had done.
“I felt very unwanted by my husband,” Caswell admitted. “I was with him for ten years and I was never complimented. We never held hands or were physical.”
She said that she was flattered by the boy’s flirting with her. She also bizarrely claimed that the boy and his father, who is a pastor, apologized to her when she lost her job.
Caswell allegedly also had sex with the boy in her SUV and at her home before following him 650 miles to Mississippi on his family vacation last June.
She was arrested at the Best Western Hotel in Olive Branch, Mississippi when police caught her and the teen in a room together. Caswell now faces three counts of second-degree rape, two counts of enticing a child, and one count of forcible sodomy.
