Two weeks ago, we reported on the brutal beating of Richard Fletcher, a white man in Baltimore who nearly died after being attacked by black thugs. Now, new details about the case have emerged, and they’re chilling.
The 61 year-old was attacked on April 22 when he went outside to break up a fight between two girls that was happening outside his home. As soon as he walked out of his door, he was brutally assaulted by a mob of fifty teens who knocked him to the ground and then continued to hit and kick him.
According to Daily Mail, Fletcher was left with a litany of injuries including broken eye sockets, a broken nose, broken ribs and a brain bleed.
This week, 17 year-old Antoine Larson was charged with attempted murder. Prosecutors say he will be tried as an adult. A 15 year-old girl has also been charged with assault, but these are the only arrests that have been made.
Witnesses say that they were not surprised by the attack, considering how violent their neighborhood has become.
“It has gotten out of hand now, gone too far,” said Joe Lamb, who owns a nearby business. “The kids walk on top of cars, kick dogs, let dogs out, throw trash, steal milk from school and throw it at houses, threaten neighbors with bodily harm.”
Fletcher has been released from the hospital, and a GoFundMe account has been set up to help pay for his medical bills. They have already raised over $18,000, but this is just a fraction of what his total bills will cost.
The Harbor View Neighbor Association, who started the GoFundMe campaign, wrote in the account description:
“Rick was brutally attacked by approximately 49 students from a near-by school on April 22.
We are working closely with the family to assist them during this difficult time. We estimate his medical bills will be between $200,000-$400,000. His medical insurance will not pay for all of the bills.
At this time, he is out of the hospital but he will need several additional surgeries. Rick has a long road to recovery. We do not expect the perpetrators will help him or his family pay for any of the medical expenses. Please donate to this very worthy cause , as Rick did not deserve this.”
