As the Baltimore riots continue to escalate, legendary actor Morgan Freeman was recently asked what he thinks about what is going on. His answer wasn’t what you may have been expecting.
While promoting his new movie Five Flights Up, Freeman was asked about the riots. Instead of commenting on the looters or the police, the actor first slammed the media, including Fox, for inciting the violence.
“Look at MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN. Go between those three. There’s a take, there’s a take, and there’s a take,” he said, according to Mediaite. “It’s just commentary. CNN wants to be pure news, but the others are just commentary. They’re just commenting on things.”
When asked about Baltimore specifically, Freeman once again blamed the media for not noticing what was going on sooner.
“Police have a standard reaction to shooting somebody. I fear for my life and I fear for my safety,” he said. “Now, at least you can see, ‘Hey, his hands were up in the air! What part of your safety were you afraid of? The guy was running away, what part of your safety was in danger?’”
“F*ck the media,” he concluded.
This is not the first time that Freeman has refused to become a race-baiting sheep. During the Ferguson riots, he refused to take the bait from a CNN anchor and instead slammed the protests. Freeman has also risked his Hollywood career by being outspoken about how “ridiculous” he thinks black history month is.
Though he included Fox as one of the networks he dislikes, the other ones were all liberal staples. We applaud Freeman for having the courage to continue to speak his mind despite working in the liberal world of Hollywood.
