An Arizona sheriff was patrolling the border when he made a chilling discovery.
Sheriff Mark Dannels of Cochise County, Arizona recently discovered a tunnel from Mexico that goes under the border and leads straight to this country. Tunnels like this make it simple for groups like ISIS to smuggle people into the U.S.
“You’re looking at a large amount of drugs, money, and what you’re alluding to is those terrorists or those people who pay the price to come in our country and harm our citizens,” Dannels said, according to Conservative Tribune. “I’m very concerned about that. If you can bring drugs or product through, you can bring terrorists through, so it’s of great concern.”
The sheriff revealed this while testifying before the United States before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee on Tuesday. Afterwards, U.S. Southern Command commander Gen. John Kelly warned that groups like ISIS are already taking advantage of things like tunnels to sneak people and weapons into America.
“Last year, ISIS adherents posted discussions on social media calling for the infiltration of the U.S. southern border,” Kelly said, warning that the threat to America is growing.
A staggering six out of ten illegal immigrants are not caught when crossing the border. This means that there could already be violent terrorists in our midst, which isn’t good for any of us.
