The first images of the largest aircraft in history have been released, and they’re pretty amazing.
The gigantic aircraft, called The Rocs, will serve as a launching pad to launch satellites, and eventually people, into orbit. The airplane has a wingspan of 385 feet and will be powered by six 747-class engines.
The system is intended to deliver satellites weighing up to 13,500 Ibs. into orbit between 112 and 1,243 miles above Earth. According to Daily Mail, the aircraft can climb 30,000 feet in the air.
The Roc weighs a whopping 1,200,000 Ibs, and flight testing will begin in 2016. The first launch will likely occur in 2018.
