George Zimmerman, of the infamous Trayvon Martin case, won’t face criminal charges after his girlfriend claimed he threw a wine bottle at her.
After first accusing Zimmerman of domestic violence on January 9, the woman retained a lawyer and recanted her story.
According to the Daily Mail, this is the third time that Zimmerman has been arrested since he was acquitted of murdering unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin in February 2013.
All three times, prosecutors declined to press charges because of a lack of evidence.
Zimmerman, 31 was arrested for aggravated assault three weeks ago after his girlfriend told police that he threw a wine bottle at her during an argument.
Judge John Galluzzo gave few details of the incident, but said a wine bottle was involved and that the alleged assault happened at Zimmerman’s home. Prosecutors questioned whether substance abuse treatment was needed, but the judge said that didn’t seem to be a factor.
After the brief hearing, Zimmerman’s attorney, Don West, told the Orlando Sentinel his client was arrested after allegedly throwing a wine bottle at his girlfriend several days ago.
It is not known at this time who the girlfriend is but Zimmerman was known to be living with Samantha Scheibe earlier this year.
This is why we can’t have nice things. We have people in this country that take advantage of law enforcement and cry wolf, when all they really need to do is just leave the relationship. This ties up the court systems and is a waste of taxpayer money. And as for Zimmerman? I don’t know why the media even bothers with him. His brief brush with fame, or infamy, is over, and its clear his shenanigans are designed for just a taste more. Grow up, Mr. Zimmerman, and get over yourself, pal.
