I know I am far from alone when I say that Boehner is not my favorite person in the world. But the Speaker is starting to change my mind, albeit just a little. The Conservative Tribune has shown a video he released stating he has invited the Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu to speak to the Congress February 11.
The invite was extended as the President is working on his so-called ‘key to his legacy’- a nuclear deal with Iran, and one that a large number of senators and congressmen think is a bad idea for Americans.
Even better. Guess who didn’t get to Gold Star this visit? Our Commander-in-Chief. Burn.
“Congress can make this decision on its own,” he said when he announced the invitation. “I don’t believe I’m poking anyone in the eye.”
Yes, Yes, and MORE YES! Obama thinks he can act without consulting Congress. He’s made that ‘crystal clear’ as he is so fond of saying. So why should the congress consult him?
The White House surely was not favorable when upon hearing this news, as it came the day after Obama promised in his State of the Union address to veto any new sanctions Congress might approve against Iran.
This will be the third time the Prime Minister has spoken to Congress.
“In this time of challenge, I am asking the prime minister to address Congress on the grave threats radical Islam and Iran pose to our security and way of life,” Boehner said in a statement. “Americans and Israelis have always stood together in shared cause and common ideals, and now we must rise to the moment again.”
Well said, Mr. Speaker. I didn’t think I would get to use that phrase this year and I am happy to be proved wrong.
