Mediaite reports Pats coach Bill Belichick told the press Thursday morning he was “shocked” by the NFL investigation that accused his team of deflating game balls during their beatdown of the Colts last weekend. Obviously this is an illegal change that ‘may’ have made the balls easier to throw and catch.
“I was shocked to learn of the news reports about the footballs,” Belichick said. “I was completely unaware of any of this until Monday morning.”
Please notice he is standing in front of a Gillette Flexball Banner. I almost lost it laughing.
“I have no explanation for what happened” over and over was the standard response Belichick used for almost every single question asked following his statement. He basically kicked every other question back to the NFL.
As a head coach, Belichick is attempting to claim ignorance of how balls are prepped for games, and is also claiming he makes player practice with balls in poor conditions, stating “Anytime the players complain about the quality of the balls, I make them worse and that stops the complaining,” Belichick said, in perhaps the most Belichick sentence ever. Perhaps he also subscribes to the saying “The beatings will continue until moral improves!”
What do you think? Were the Pats ‘ballsy’ enough to deflate balls in the game? Or is #DeflateGate just a way for the Colts to excuse the solid whooping they got? Sound off in the comments below!
