Fox News viewers, rejoice! The battle of Dish V.S. Fox News has ended. So that means you don’t have to drop them for channel limitations. Instead you can drop them for the crappy service! Hooray!
In all seriousness, there is a shocking underlying reason why Fox was dropped- and it has nothing to do with fees.
Chairman Charles Ergen has come under scrutiny in the fight, given Ergen’s long-standing reputation as an supporter of the Democratic Party.
I know this comes as a huge shock (sarcasm font) that someone as smart as a Democrat would be opposed to having differing points of view than MSNBC on his network. Not.
Chairman Ergen donated 64,000 to Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. This is just last year. In addition, he also supported several legislative candidates on the Democratic side.
To make a sticky wicket even stickier, Ergen has allegedly pressured other employees at Dish Network to donate to Democratic causes.
So why is he so deep in the pockets of the D’s and being the town crier for donations?
The political angle was not brought in until late in the game, insinuating Dish was “censoring” the news by dropping Fox News and Fox Business Network.
Looks like Dish severely underestimated the backlash.
The satellite provider lost 90,000 customers during the fight which was directly attributable to Dish Network’s dropping Fox News. Irate customers flooded dish with 350,000 calls and emails expressing their displeasure.
Who knew America would like actual news over a pompous corporate puppet?
Some mysteries in life will never be explained….
