“The View” Cohost Forced To Step Down Over Controversial Views

It hasn’t been a good year for The View

Since Barbara Walters stepped down, and new idiot hosts like Rosie O’Donnell joined Whoopi Goldberg on the panel, the show has seen a drastic decline in ratings that has left ABC ready to pull the plug.

Now, one of the hosts has jumped off the sinking ship and left the series for good. Rosie Perez announced on Wednesday that she has quit The View, effective immediately. The actress has been on leave for the last month appearing on Broadway, so she will not be filming any more episodes of the daily talk show.

Perez was a last minute addition to this season along with the conservative Nicolle Wallace. She quickly became known for her ignorant liberal views and loud mouth that made her the perfect buddy to Whoopi and Rosie O’Donnell.

A source close to the show says that Perez never quite got the hang of reading off a teleprompter, and made numerous mistakes on the live show. Perez often appeared confused and uncomfortable with the format, which centers around the women effortlessly switching between silly fodder and serious political stories.

Judging from the ratings, the other women won’t be far behind Perez in leaving the show. ABC is seriously considering canceling it and replacing it with another hour of Good Morning America. While this would leave Wallace and O’Donnell out in the cold, Whoopi would come out on top thanks to her contract that ensures she will be paid $5 million for the show next year whether it is on or not.

“Whoopi is the winner either way,” a source said. “She’s wanted out of this contract for years and begged to be let go during the show overhaul last summer. To get paid to just go home would make her very happy.”
