Brianne Altice, the former Utah high school teacher who made headlines for carrying out lurid affairs with three of her students, was arrested again on Wednesday. The 35-year-old, who once taught English, faces four new charges of sexual abuse for sleeping with one of the same 17-year-old boys again.
Altice allegedly had sex two times with one of her former students between November 2013 and August 2014, at which time she was out on bail in the first case. MailOnline reports that she faces 10 charges in the earlier case, which involves the 17-year-old and two other students. She has pleaded not guilty to six of the charges, but has not yet entered a plea for the remaining four.
The charges against Altice include first-degree rape, first-degree forcible sodomy and second-degree forcible sexual abuse. Her attorney, Edward Brass, has denied in court that she ever had romantic relationship with any of her students. “It is her defense that they did not happen at all,” Brass wrote in a motion. “That she never engaged in any inappropriate contact with either of her students.”
Altice formerly admitted to a sexual affair with one of the 16-year-olds from the first case, but Brass asked a judge not to allow those statements at her trial, arguing that her confession was coerced by the eight to ten male officers who bombarded her at home. “Her statements were coerced and involuntary and were taken in violation of her so-called Miranda rights,” Brass wrote in court papers. “The evidence she provided was the product of that tainted statement.”
Court documents reveal that Altice was released from jail after her Wednesday arrest when she posted $10,000 bail.
