MSNBC Gets Some Very Bad News
January 2, 2015 8:36am PST
During their annual review of the past year, MSNBC got some news that is anything but good for them. The network realized that they performed worse than all their major competitors, including CNN and Fox News.
The liberal television network has finished in a distant third in their most important demographic, which is 25-54 year-olds. Fox was up 3% in this demographic, while CNN only decreased by 1%.
MSNBC, however, went down by a staggering 17% in this demographic. They averaged only 169,000 primetime viewers, which is just a little more than half of Fox’s 302,000 viewers.
Clearly rattled, MSNBC president Phil Griffin quickly announced plans to “invest in more programming and news coverage that goes beyond the Beltway.”
“We’re going to get on the road — and outside of Washington — a lot more,” he added. “We’re going to keep opening up our aperture, while investing in original reporting on the broad range of stories that move and inspire Americans.”
