The adult film industry has once again been rocked by reports of HIV-positive porn stars. This time, the “actors” in question are male and it appears that one likely infected the other during a Nevada film shoot.

The California Department of Public Health revealed that one of the men previously tested negative for the virus, but then began showing symptoms during a recent shoot, after which he tested positive. The other infected actor participated in the same shoot, at which time the pair engaged in unprotected sex.

“In this case, the actor and production company thought he was HIV-negative during filming,” said health officials. “Shortly after his negative test, HIV levels in his body rose rapidly to where he could infect other actors through unprotected sex.”

“Not only did this leave those who participated at risk, it made it much harder to track scene partners once the possible infection was discovered,” commented a spokesperson for the Free Speech Coalition, a California-based advocacy group for the adult film industry. The state of Nevada has mush less stringent health guidelines than California, where wearing a condom on set is mandatory.

The names of the infected actors have not been released to protect their privacy. The last confirmed on-set HIV infection was in 2004, according to MailOnline.
