An off-duty police officer was shot in his personal vehicle on Friday afternoon. The shooting occurred in the 3800 block of N. 25th Street in the north St. Louis area. The police report described the officer as a 28-year-old with more than four years on the force. He was shot multiple times in the lower extremities.
At this time, authorities are unsure of whether the officer was able to return fire. It is possible that this attack was in retaliation for the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, as we have seen a surge in gang violence directed at law enforcement officers nationwide.
