Two years ago, the Sandy Hook massacre in Newtown, Connecticut brought the nation to it’s knees. Now, the families of the victims are teaming up in an effort to restrict the second amendment, hoping to take away American’s gun rights for good.
The Newtown families are in the process of filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Bushmaster, a popular gun manufacturer that makes the AR-15 assault rifle that was used in the massacre. Nevermind that the killings were committed by a mentally deranged young man: the parents are out for the blood of the gun company.
A relative of one of the victims told the press, “for far too long the gun industry has been given legislative safe harbor from this standard business practice. These companies assume no responsibility for marketing and selling a product to the general population who are not trained to use it nor even understand the power of it.”
While we sympathize with the plight of these families, it’s unbelievably ridiculous to blame a gun company for the actions of a crazy person. The executives at Bushmaster did not kill these people: Adam Lanza did. Despite this, the victim’s families are blaming the gun manufacturers for the deaths of their loved ones.
Unsurprisingly, the lawsuit has found support in the Democrat community through lobbyist Karen Hinton, an ally of Andrew Cuomo and former secretary under the Clinton administration. Hinton is getting the suit lots of attention in Washington, and is doing everything she can to ensure that the Newton families will prevail.
The families have also hired noted attorney Michael Koskoff to represent them. Koskoff is known for representing Michael Jackson’s family in their $1.5 million wrongful death lawsuit against the singer’s concert promoter.
