Marielena Hincapie, the executive director of the National Immigration Law Center, sat on Capitol Hill to defend the president’s unilateral amnesty initiative, and Rep. Trey Gowdy picked her bones clean.
The first rip of the video is when Hincapie puts an unconfirmed motive that the GOP’s decision to not back the president’s order was because of race. Such comments do not slip by Gowdy easily, and he immediately addressed the issue so that the actual discussion could remain on-point without all of the embellishments race baiters enjoy to distract from core issues:
“I could’ve sworn in response to a question you received … you suggested race is the basis for why we may have this constitutional perspective. Did I understand you correctly?”
Stumbling through her reply that in no sense answered the question with a “no”, Gowdy killed the point in an impressive and swooning compilation of reason.
“Well let me offer another explanation to you, okay? Not a single Republican who is here right now has ever served under a Republican president — not one. So I hope I do live long enough to hold a Republican president to the exact same standard that I am holding this one.
But for you to run to race as the explanation for why we hold the position that we do — Harry Reid had a very different perspective on recess appointments when there was a Texan in the White House, and none of us accused him of geographic discrimination.
In fact — hell — for that matter, Senator Obama had a different perspective on executive overreach than PresidentObama, and no one runs to race as an explanation for that. So I would just caution you to be careful when you try to import motives to people.”
After that point in the video, Hincapie engages in point-for-point areas where she continues to shoot herself in the foot with the admission that the president still needs to enforce the law that he is trying to dictate out of existance. Enjoy!
