Last night Eric Garner’s namesake daughter Erica joined Don Lemon on CNN Tonight to talk about her father’s death and the aftermath of the grand jury decision not to indict the responsible officer.
During the discussion, Garner clued Don Lemon into a bigger idea when she begins the clip finding comfort in seeing people of diverse ethnicities unifying to protest the grand jury decision.
Lemon asks her the question that most people in America have already made assumption of: Is this about race?
And for all the vigilante spirit seen in this nation over the past year, I congratulate Ms. Garner when she responds with a thought out, just, and honest statement:
“This is not a black and white issue.”
Reeling, Lemon asks her to clarify the point as he knew most viewers would be surprised by such a statement when the nation screamed racial injustice.
“I really doubt it. It was about the officer’s pride. It was about my father being 6’4″ and 350 pounds and he wants to be the top cop that brings a big man down.”
Plain and simple, she sees the situation for the human element. The tragedy of the situation is not that there is one race killing another as race baiters would have us believe. It is the cult-like race-on-race strobe they are using to brainwash generations of Americans for their own political/popular gain.
Congratulations on you adulthood, Erica Garner.
