Obama recently returned from an overseas trip to attend the APEC climate-change summit in Beijing, but don’t be fooled into thinking that he actually accomplished anything. Reports indicate that China does not plan to honor the new climate-change agreement which seeks to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions over the next 15 years.
The Daily Signal revealed that China agreed to a “target” of deriving 20 percent of its energy needs from renewable resources “around” 2030. In exchange, Obama agreed that American families and businesses will aim to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by at least 26 percent by 2025. This will only serve to cripple America in the global economy.
As China continues to strive to replace the United States as the world’s foremost economic power, Obama’s climate-change agreement represents unilateral economic disarmament for the U.S. While China is unlikely to adhere to the agreement, Obama and his cronies are adamant about it. The EPA is hard at work enforcing new anti-carbon-dioxide mandates and the Chinese are laughing all the way to the bank.
Of all the global and domestic disasters Obama could be focusing his attentions on, he has chosen this, despite the U.S. already reducing carbon-dioxide emissions more than any other industrial nation. China’s emissions, on the other hand, have skyrocketed. Still, Obama seeks to advance policies which would likely put hundreds of thousands of blue-collar Americans out of work. Coal regulations alone could render more than 150,000 coal miners, truck drivers and coal-power plant workers unemployed.

While the United States is currently the world’s top producer of petroleum, with a hefty 300-year supply of coal, that could all change relatively quickly if the industry becomes taxed and regulated out of existence. Meanwhile, China is building one coal-burning energy plant nearly every month and just signed a $300 billion pipeline deal with Russia to transport billions of barrels of oil and gas into the country. Does that sound like a nation swearing off fossil fuels to you?
Chinese President Xi Jinping said China “targets to” and has “the intention to” abide by the agreement. And Obama was content with that. This President has the backbone of a jellyfish. Do you think the Chinese will follow through with this climate-change agreement? Or will they use it against the United States to cement their economy as a more powerful force than our own?
