Four British men are looking at substantial jail time for throwing a pig’s head at a mosque. Thomas Ashton, Andrew Warner, Travis Crabtree, and Steven White were all sentenced to months in jail on Monday for their crime against radical Islam. The men, all from the Blackpool area of the United Kingdom, admitted that their little prank “went horribly wrong.”
Two days after radical Muslims publicly murdered British soldier Lee Rigby, the four men took matters into their own hands. They threw a severed pig’s head into the parking lot of Blackpool Central Mosque just as families were arriving for services.
The Muslim-sympathizing prosecutor in the case said that it “sent a shiver down his spine.” He furthered:
“Pigs and items relating to them are forbidden for Muslims to touch or have contact with. Its presence at a place of worship was highly insulting. Parents and children had started to arrive at the mosque. Some of them saw the head and felt offended and angry.”
The men had every right to be enraged by Rigby’s murder, as he was slaughtered brutally in the street by Muslims with knives and a meat cleaver. Even the leader of the mosque where the men threw the dead pig’s head came to their defense, arguing that they were rightfully outraged and had not hurt anyone with their prank.
But Judge Graham Knowles refused to grant the men clemency. “People are and must be free to worship as they please and without this kind of foul attack on them and that which they hold sacred,” he declared. The Conservative Tribune reported that all four men were found guilty of “religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress.”
In a world where radical Islamists behead innocent Christians by the thousands, this seems like the epitome of an unjust punishment. Do you think these citizens should be jailed for their actions? Tell us in the comments section!
