Charles Manson, 80, is set to marry in the next three months after he and his 26 year-old girlfriend secured a California marriage license on November 7.
Manson and Afton Elaine Burton have 90 days to marry before they must reapply for a marriage license.
Burton, who goes by Star, recently told reporters that she is in love with Manson, and that she will marry him next month. She moved to California from the midwest nine years ago to be with her imprisoned boyfriend.
“I love him,” she said. “I’m with him. There’s all kinds of things.”
In an interview last year, Burton said that she planned to marry Manson someday. The convicted killer, however, refuted this, saying “that’s a bunch of garbage. That’s trash. We’re playing that for public consumption.”
But Burton said she never had any doubts, telling reporters, “Y’all can know that it’s true. It’s going to happen.”
Burton also said that the wedding may have happened before this had Manson not had “some situations.” He got citations for possession of a weapon, threatening staff, and refusing to give a urine sample, which pushed his application for a marriage license back a ways.
Manson has been in jail since 1969 for the brutal murders of Hollywood actress Sharon Tate as well as six others.
While Manson will not be allowed conjugal visits, he and Burton will be allowed to invite 10 guests who are not inmates to their nuptials.
