Whoopi Goldberg has announced that she is standing by Bill Cosby against the mounting rape accusations against him.
During a segment in Monday’s episode of The View, Whoopi urged Barbara Bowman, Cosby’s most outspoken victim, to come on the show and answer a few questions.
“Quite honesty, you know, look, I’m sorry, having been on both sides of this where people allege that you do something, it doesn’t matter now,” Whoopi said. “The cat is out of the bag, people have it in their heads. I have a lot of questions for the lady. Maybe she’ll come on.”
Whoopi’s cohost Rosie O’Donnell immediately leapt to the defense of the victims, saying that Cosby had settled with many of them out of court, but Whoopi wasn’t budging. The Oscar-winner argued that “settlements don’t necessarily mean you’re guilty.”
“I hope that there is justice for this lady. I hope somebody gets to the bottom of this,” she continued, “but I’m going to reserve my judgment because I have a lot of questions, as I said. It’s crazy, but I have a lot of questions, because I know we all have friends who have gone through this.”
Whoopi’s “friends who have gone through this” were clearly other black celebrities who have been “falsely” accused of rape.
If Bill Cosby was a white man, Whoopi would be the first person to grab her pitchfork and go for his head. However, since Cosby is black, Whoopi is standing by him and is ready to accuse anyone who attacks him of racism.
